Even though it is almost Summer, and the weather has been amazing we are busy here at the Club and loving it.
Because of that we are hiring another Member and Guest Service Assistant. I have been interviewing people which can be stressful but actually kind of fun to me. Searching through 25+ resumes can be challenging but it’s like a treasure hunt. After I find my top 5 resumes, I begin making phone calls, then hopefully they are great on the phone, and I schedule a 1st in-person interview and go from there.
That is where I am now, and I have had some really good candidates who have asked great questions and given me some insightful answers I’d like to share with you.
What dawned on me after a couple of interviews is how confident, smart, and interesting they are and what fabulous questions and one specifically had a very insightful answer.
I always end my interviews with 2 specific questions.
If you were to work for me, what could I do as your Manager to support and motivate you to work at your highest level? Here is how one of the candidates answered:
“As a manager, some things that you could do to motivate me would be to create a positive and open environment. If I feel comfortable and I know the environment I am working in is positive, then I will want to work at my highest level. Another thing would be to mentor me so I can be the best version of myself. I think being able to form that relationship will help me grow and work at my highest level.”
Do you have any questions for me?
Here is some of what I got:
“What does the employee/team culture look like here and what is your favorite part of working at here?”
Those were easy to answer for me because both our employee and members culture here is so fantastic. We are a family, we are all so positive, we get to know each other, care for each other, and we look forward to seeing you all and make coming here the best part of your day!
We are always looking to improve and have fun!!
Hopefully you will get to meet one of these fantastic candidates very soon!
