Do you ever have times where you feel like you are busy all of the time but at the end of the day you wonder what in the heck you did all day?
I’m feeling that right now. And rather than getting swamped by the flood of things to do, I am ready to take back control. As the old saying goes, “if you don’t plan your time, someone else will.”
I have lots of people tell me that they “just don’t have the time.” But when you make a priority and act on it, you can create the time. We all have 24 hours in a day and the busiest, most successful people I know make time for themselves and their priorities. So here we go…
#1. Set your Priorities
What are your top 3? Here are mine…
My health – for me that means bike/cardio 2-4X per week, 2X minimum strength training, getting good sleep, drinking plenty of water, eating well). I know that I need my good health to do all the other things in life.
My family – making sure I have time to connect with Doug and my kids
Our business – leading the club, supporting our team, helping our members & guests
#2. ACT on your Priorities and Plan your Week. Mark them in your calendar!
Health: Exercise time is blocked on my calendar so no one can take that time from me. I pack my gym bag the night before so I don’t have to make any decisions in the morning. Just grab the bag and go!
Family: Have dinner together on the nights Doug & I are at home (we both have many “after work” activities). Texting or calling my kids every week to connect with them.
Business: What are the most important things to accomplish this week? Write them on your schedule and start with the hardest one. Block time to complete activities – don’t allow interruptions unless it is an emergency. Note: If you ever see me working with my headphones on, you know I’m in one of my time block.
The important thing is that you can choose to be intentional about how you use your time. I am going to follow my own advice from above and do a better job of planning out each week.
I like to do that on Fridays so that I can hit the ground running on Monday.
I want you to feel empowered and intentional in your own life and hope that good health is one of your top priorities too.
That’s why we are here! To serve you and help you live a healthier and happier life.
