We caught up with BTTC Tennis Pro, AnnElise, to talk about why families keep coming back to our Summer Tennis Camps year after year.
Q: Why are BTTC Tennis Summer Camps valuable for kids — whether they’re brand new or already love the game?
A: “With our 8:1 student-to-coach ratio, every child gets real attention. No matter their starting level, they’ll grow. We review the foundation of each stroke at the beginning of every camp, then build from there through games and match play.
Because they’re on court consistently throughout the week, their development really accelerates. You can actually see the confidence and skill build day by day.”
Q: Why is tennis such a great sport for kids right now?
A: “Tennis is an incredible cross-functional sport. Kids develop footwork, hand-eye coordination, agility, and endurance — all things that support other sports too.
We also focus on life skills like communication, honesty, teamwork, and problem-solving. And the best part? Tennis is a lifetime sport. The skills they build now can serve them for decades.”
Q: What can families expect from A WEEK AT BTTC SUMMER camp?
A: “Each day has a different skill focus, and we incorporate games and match play so kids can learn through fun, social competition. By the end of the week, they’ve reviewed all the foundational strokes and put everything together to compete at their appropriate level.”
Q: What should parents know before camp starts?
A: “Most camps are held outdoors at local high school courts during the summer, so hydration is key. Bring water (ice helps!), a few snacks for breaks, comfortable athletic clothing, and proper court shoes. We can provide racquets if needed.
It’s a few hours of active movement — so come ready to work, have fun, and improve!”
Spots fill quickly each summer — we’d love to see your player on court. Go to BTTC.fit or see below for full schedule.

All camps are held at Bellingham High School except for Lil’ Slammers which is held at Bellingham Training and Tennis Club.
What to bring to tennis summer camp:
-Water
-Snacks
-Comfortable athletic clothing
Light layer (in case it’s windy or cool)
-Sunscreen (for outdoor camps)
-Court shoes
-Tennis racquet (we can provide these, if needed)
What are good court shoes for playing tennis?
For beginners, good tennis court shoes prioritize lateral stability and comfort. Running shoes usually don’t offer the best stability for lateral movement. Intermediate and advanced players will also want something light that allows for speed. Durability is always a great quality in any sports shoe. If you have questions on the best shoes for your player, please reach out to one of our tennis pros or email [email protected]
