“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant.

If we did not sometimes taste adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.”

— Josh Billings

Unlike Robin, I am always trying to find a reason to like January. It is easy for me to find the reasons to just want January and February to end. It’s cold, dark, and usually I just had too much holiday cheer from November and December.

The idea of making a commitment to do better seems like something that just sets up a potential to be disappointed in the end results.

Luckily, these are just fleeting thoughts and I can just walk through the lobby and find reasons to feel why I am so fortunate to be here right now. It is the people surrounding me that keep me feeling positive. Robin tells us to set your goals and work on your personal growth. Alexandra reminds me to be happy with who you are and don’t compare yourself to those you feel have more than you.

Grant is having his 71st birthday and is getting his prized Bobby Riggs statue back and this reminds me that every day is a great day!

Alan gets better at tennis every time I spend an hour with him. These are only a smattering of the moments so many of you provide for me and others in a day.

Now, I am not dwelling on the long winter months but enjoying the moment.

So, this is a thank you to all of you that walk through our doors and make my blue feelings turn into the smile. I am so lucky to be around people that want to stay healthy and enjoy the camaraderie of the tennis and fitness classes.
